Halloween festivities at Grace McWayne School will take place on Friday, October 30th.  We will follow our normal morning and early afternoon academic schedule and begin transitioning into our planned celebration at approximately 2:00pm.  We appreciate your cooperation and support for providing a safe and happy Halloween celebration for all students!

COSTUMES

· Students may arrive dressed in their costume or bring it in a clearly marked bag to put on later in the day (look for more details from classroom teachers).

· Please make certain that costumes are easy to put on without assistance of an adult.

· Students’ safety is the first priority.  Masks limit the vision of children.  Do not allow your child to walk to or from school wearing a mask.

· Please limit the amount of make-up applied to your child’s face.  Wearing lots of make-up for an entire day can become uncomfortable and distracting.

· All of our students should be sensitive to the younger students in our school.  When designing costumes, avoid themes of violence and gore.  Weapons including knives, swords, clubs, and guns are not acceptable at school.  Staff members may require students to remove costumes which depict violence and all look-a-like weapons will be confiscated until the end of the day.

PARADE - 2:15 - 2:30PM

· The parade will happen outside.  It will begin at the front of the building and travel northwest along the school sidewalk. All family and community members are welcome to line the parade route to enjoy student and staff costumes.  This is a great time for pictures!

· If weather does not cooperate, the parade will be inside.  In the instance of inclement weather, parents will be allowed in the building in order to watch the parade in the gym.

PARTIES - 2:30 - 3:25PM

· Party organizers (up to 2 room parents and 3 additional volunteers) will be allowed down to the classrooms at 2:00pm.  These volunteers are assigned ahead of time by room parents.

· Due to classroom space and security protocols, only scheduled volunteers will be allowed into the building on party days.  No additional parents or siblings can be accommodated inside of the classroom for any reason.
